Guide to Y'all Fest

11 days, 7 hours, and 6 minutes until Y'all Fest.
For those of you that are unaware, Tyler and I met because of Y'all Fest. We talked like twice on Instagram and then accidentally met in person in line for Becca Fitzpatrick.
Believe me when I say that not only am I ridiculously excited to for Y'all Fest but I am just as excited to see Tyler again in person. (Hi Tyler if you're reading this. :P)

Since we've been to Y'all Fest, we decided to lend our knowledge to you, so here are some tips for how to survive Y'all Fest!

1. You need a plan!
I think Tyler would always recommend spreed sheets, and I also recommend you have/make a map. Planning ahead is a great way to make sure you make the most of your time.

2. Make a map. They have a map on the Y'all Fest website, but they have so many more places that authors are going to sign this year! If you are crazy like me, I'd screenshot king street on google maps, and then highlight all of the places authors are signing.

Keep in mind that this may not be all of the signing places, you will have to double check all of the places your authors are signing.

3. Bring a something to carry your books. Anything from a tote bag (which EpicReads gives out at the Blue Bicycle Big Tent) to a rolling cart will work!

4. Don't be afraid of bringing too many books! I saw people hauling around thirty books last year, and there is no such thing as over-packing! Just keep in mind that authors will usually have a limit of three books per person. Make sure to double check that if you were planning on bringing more!

5. Bring a charger or extra battery for whatever you need! This is extremely important if you are going to be taking pictures with your phone. I bought a portable charger at Wal-Mart for about $10. Mines called a pocket juice, and I highly recommend it.

6. Bring a water bottle and a snack. Depending on who you're in line for, most of the lines will probably be long, and you'll probably get hungry or thirsty. The longest line I was in last year was for Stephanie Perkins, and we waited in that line for over an hour.

7. Use the bathroom early! The map on the Y'allfest website shows where some public restrooms are located, but the majority of the coffee shops and cafés on King Street require a purchase for you to use the bathroom.

8. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes. You're going to be walking a lot from signing to signing. This year they have branched out to the Charleston County Library which is a little less than twenty minute walk from King St. and they also added the Charleston Museum as one of the signing spots. Consider bringing a hairbrush or put your hair up if you're a girl(or a guy with long hair). Tyler's hair was out of control in all of her pictures, and you definitely don't want that!

9. Try to see as many authors as you can on Friday. You can get to a lot of the authors you want to see by doing this. On Saturday, most of the authors will be signing at the same time, and the lines are longer.

10. Don't be afraid to make small talk. Everyone there is a book nerd, and they're probably dying to tell someone who cares about their latest read or that crazy plot twist in chapter three! Try and get their Instagram, Kik, or phone number if you really hit it off! Maybe you'll get to see each other next year too!
